Privacy policy

Household Finance is a private app used by one household. It is operated by Brent Rojas (brent@brentrojas.com). Only the two people on its sign-in allow-list can use it.

What we collect

• Your name and email address, from Google when you sign in.
• For banks you choose to link through Plaid: account names, the last four digits, balances and transactions.
• What you enter yourself: property and other assets, budgets.

How it is used

Only to show your household's accounts, spending, budgets and net worth in this app. It is not sold, shared, or used for advertising, and no one outside the household can see it.

Service providers

Plaid (connects to your banks, with your consent in Plaid's own window), Google (sign-in) and Microsoft Azure (hosting and storage, United States). Each receives only what its service needs.

Security

Everything is sent over HTTPS. Data is stored encrypted, and bank access tokens are additionally encrypted with a key held in Azure Key Vault. Only allow-listed Google accounts can sign in.

Consent

Nothing is collected from a bank until you link it yourself and approve access in Plaid Link.

Retention and deletion

• Data is kept while the bank stays linked. Unlink revokes Plaid's access and deletes that bank's accounts and transactions from the app.
• Monthly net worth totals, budgets and manually entered assets stay until you remove them.
• Sign-in sessions expire after 7 days without use.
• Database backups are kept for 7 days, then deleted automatically.
• To delete everything or ask what is stored, email the address above. Requests are handled within 30 days.

This policy is reviewed every January and whenever the app starts storing a new kind of data.
